In 2262, Earthforce Captain Elizabeth Lochley is appointed to command Babylon 5. The station evolves into a sanctuary for rogue telepaths fleeing the Psi Corps, sparking significant conflict. G'Kar, the former Narn ambassador to Babylon 5, unexpectedly becomes a spiritual icon after a book he wrote during incarceration during the Narn-Centauri War is published. The Drakh, former allies of the Shadows who remained in the galaxy, seize control of Regent Virini on Centauri Prime through a parasitic entity known as a Keeper, inciting a war between the Centauri and the Interstellar Alliance. This conflict aims to isolate the Centauri from the Alliance and secure a malleable homeworld for the Drakh. Centauri Prime suffers devastating attacks by Narn and Drazi warships, leading to Londo Mollari's ascension as emperor. Under threat of nuclear annihilation, he accepts a Drakh Keeper. Series episodes feature premonitions of his reign's end, showing Mollari and his former adversary (later friend) G'Kar sixteen years later engaged in a fatal confrontation driven by their longstanding rivalry. It is later revealed that Mollari's enslavement to Drakh rule and his exhaustion with life created an unintended dynamic, with his Keeper ultimately awakening and strangling G'Kar in retaliation. Vir Cotto, Mollari's loyal and morally upright aide, succeeds him as emperor, free from Drakh influence. Sheridan and Delenn marry and relocate to Minbar, establishing the Interstellar Alliance's headquarters there. G'Kar departs Babylon 5 to escape his unwanted celebrity status and explore the outer rim. Garibaldi also marries and settles on Mars, while most other main characters leave the station. Nineteen years later, nearing the end of his life, Sheridan embarks on a final journey to the decommissioned Babylon 5 station before its destruction. He seemingly dies but is claimed by the First Ones, who invite him to join them on a voyage beyond the galaxy's rim. Shortly after Sheridan's departure, Babylon 5 is demolished, as its role in diplomacy has been assumed by the Interstellar Alliance. This closing episode includes a cameo by Straczynski as the technician who extinguishes the station's lights prior to its demolition.
